First unveiled on a wall in London’s Southwark district, Choose Your Weapon is one of Banksy’s most iconic street works. The image depicts a hooded youth walking a dog rendered in the unmistakable style of Keith Haring’s “Barking Dog,” a striking clash between gritty realism and playful pop iconography. At once a critique of gang culture and an homage to artistic rebellion, the work asks its viewers to consider what “weapon” they choose—violence, or creativity. Banksy later translated the mural into a series of limited screenprints in vivid colorways, which have since become highly sought after in the international art market.
